Hathorn Baking 8!

1. Teacher Re-intro/bio.
2. Seating Plan for this week and possibly ongoing - alphabetical.This may be adjusted during week 2-3 of Q1 based on groupings TBD.

4. Review of Seating Plan - Baking Groups TBD. 
4. Class - Rules and Protocol - will review more via the syllabus re: academic/elective expectations below.

Class Protocol's

Phones - as soon as you pass over the door threshold into the space your phone should be away - meaning - in your bag - not visible. Phone time for the purposes of research and or class activities will be afforded and allocated by the teacher. 

Please! DO NOT MOVE TABLES AND CHAIRS!!!!

The Blog - should you miss a class (or classes) it is up to you to check the class blog and check what it is that you have missed. If you were not physically here for numerous baking labs it would negatively affect your overall grade in this class. 

Covid19 - DO NOT COME TO SCHOOL SICK - with ANY symptoms. Should you attend school/class ill or with symptoms of illness you will be immediately requested to sign out at the front desk and leave the school premises. 

*Wash your Hands!!! Yes, again. Yes I know you may have sanitized before class - BUT YES you do need to wash them again upon entry to this space. 

Note: 
PINK LIQUID IS HAND SOAP. 
BLUE= DISH SOAP. World Health Organization Video. 

You will be required to re-wash your hands again if you are about to work with food materials, have come back from the washroom etc. No excuses.

Please sit at your assigned seat unless instructed to begin your weekly lab & remember - hands to yourselves at your desk and while working. 

Please come to class ready to work. E.g. with pencil, close toed shoes, appropriate attire and bags either in your lockers and or directly underneath your desks (to minimize tripping hazards).

Please do not congregate at the door prior to dismissal - please wait until your row is dismissed.

Oct 28 2022 Seed Bake!!!!

Seed Bake!!!  Ingredients  US Metric   1x 2x 3x ▢ ¾   cup   raw pumpkin seeds ▢ 1   tablespoon   olive oil ▢ ½   teaspoon   kosher salt ▢ ⅛   teaspoon   black pepper (optional) Equipment: *Bowl *Spoon & Wooden Spoon or Spatula *Silicone Mat *Silicone baster *4 sided baking tray Instructions  Preheat oven to 350°F (177ºC). In a small bowl combine pumpkin seeds, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Lightly grease a sheet pan with olive oil. (use silicone baster).  Evenly spread the seasoned pumpkin seeds on the sheet pan. Bake until the seeds are toasted and crunchy, about 12 to 15 minutes.  Stir every 5 minutes for even toasting, and check for doneness with each stir by tasting a seed for crunchiness. Transfer the roasted pumpkin seeds to a bowl to cool down.

Oct 18 2022 Fruit Crisp Bake, Reflection and Marks Check In.

Attendance. You have 2 TA's for this lesson :) Michelle and Lumi. They know how to do attendance for you. Students are baking their already prepped apple crumble's in today's class.  Please request that the TA's bring out the crumbles for baking from the back freezers. Baking Time - 45min to 50 min. REMINDER - for students - PUT A 4 sided large cookie sheet UNDER your crumble pan before your put it in the oven. This will catch any accidental overflow.  REMINDER: TA's to dole out ice cream - max 3 scoops per student please. Ice cream located in the back room freezer.  * All washing up and tidying must be complete before 10am. At 10am TA's to do station checks re: all items used and ensuring that all returned equipment has been dried and put away properly.  Recipe  - for your reference. Bake Temp is 350 today.  While students are waiting for their crumbles to bake please have them complete a 'Reflection Sheet' on this recipe. Date Oct 18 2022.  Reflectio
